NELAH has 1 job opening(s) available
The founders of NELAH identified a clear need to empower the community by providing care and support to their people in response to the unmet need for community-level prevention, care and support services for people living with HIV in southwest Nigeria. NELAH pioneered HIV counselling and Home Based Care (HBC) training in Nigeria. The organisation also initiated the Ambassador of Hope programme in Nigeria, a programme that helped to address stigma and discrimination of People Living with HIV (PLHIV) through open disclosure of status.
NELAH’s focus has been on supporting community-based organisations to provide HIV prevention, care and support services. In this regard, NELAH has supported 110 community based organisations, 16,048 PLHIV and People Affected by HIV/AIDS (PABA), 3,423 Vulnerable Children (VC), 24,491 youths and 11,189 couples with its programmes. Funding for these activities have been provided by partners such as DFID, British High Commission, British Council, German Embassy, British Caledonian Women, CRUSAID and PEPFAR/USAID on various short and long term projects. Other funding sources have included UNDP, APIN, Family Health International, UNICEF, REACH, SIDACTION, Ebenezer Foundation, SIDAFRIQUE and the International HIV/AIDS Alliance (IAA). Commodities have also been supplied by the Damien Foundation and the Society for Family Health.
